EMDR and Psychotherapy
Suppose you are a person who identifies with having a traumatic past, especially of the relational and complex type (trauma embedded in painful, persistent conditions). In that case, there are now many possibilities for receiving and getting help.
As of today, the two most effective treatments for trauma recovery work are EMDR therapy and psychotherapy.
Eye movement desterilization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is one of the two science-based treatments that the WHO recognizes as efficient for treating PTSD. It is a remarkable tool to accompany talk therapy in handling complex trauma.
Psychotherapy is a beneficial therapy tool. However, it works best for those who have experienced trauma in early relationships and whom they may benefit from reparative relationship experiences for their recovery.
Trauma Doesn’t Discriminate
It doesn’t matter how you engage in doing the healing work. Remember the following:
Trauma isn’t something that just happens in isolated, single, and terrible situations. Instead, trauma typically is formed by painful, recurring relationships early in life.
Some people may even be high-functioning and come from a background of trauma. Your life may seem impressive to others, but you are still suffering inwardly.
Trauma does not discriminate on the type of a person it will impact.
