A very influential senator from Nigeria has been arrested recently in the United Kingdom for his alleged part in a child organ-harvesting conspiracy.

Ike Ekweremadu, along with his wife, Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu, was arrested and charged with “conspiracy to facilitate/arrange for the travel of another human with the intentions to exploitation, specifically organ harvesting,” the Met UK Police revealed in a statement

This investigation into the Senator and his wife started at the beginning of May after the cops were tipped off about “possible crimes under the modern slavery act legislation in May 2022.”

The couple is to appear in Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on June 23, 2022.

A child whose identity remains unknown was placed into proper care.

Ike Ekweremadu had served in the Senate as a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party.

Ike is a good friend to Goodluck Jonathan, Nigeria’s former president. Jonathan is a certified lawyer, and, from 2007-2019, he served as Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, one of the most important political positions you can hold in Nigeria.

A few weeks ago, he was selected as Visiting Professor of Corporate and International Linkages at the University of Lincoln.
