Shortly after that, one of the worst tax laws would be passed called The Tax Act HR 6385.
It legally required a $100 handling tax on the sale of marihuana.
Those in opposition to this tax are related to this tax’s underhanded manner.
As WWII progressed and Japan cut off most supplies, trading lines for the US from the US government encouraged farmers to grow cannabis.
This was called the “hemp for victory” campaign designed to replace the missing supply for many needed materials during the war.
