“There is no biological free lunch.” Tim Ferriss had quoted this statement once well on “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast. I believe what he means by this is: You shouldn’t assume you can experiment with your body as much as you want and not eventually see significant side-effects, either physical or psychological. Just like any other drug or supplement being taken, too much of a good thing has the potential to go bad. The proper research and questions should be looked after before doing any such thing. Tim goes into some pretty in-depth details in his first book, The Four Hour Work Week, about how he became a human guinea pig and documented all his self-experiments.
Nootropics meaning is a supplement that consists of different types of nutrients that enhance cognitive functions, such as; memory, intelligence, motivation, attention, and concentration. They’re thought to work by altering the availability of the brain’s supply of neurochemicals (hormones, neurotransmitters and enzymes), by improving the brain’s oxygen supply, or by stimulation of nerve growth.
Supplements definition and supplements meaning – something that completes or enhances something else when added to it.
I first became intrigued by the idea of a pill that can increase one’s intelligence in March 2011. The film Limitless just came out, had been very enthusiastic and impatiently waiting to release such an idea for a movie. Of course, I had to go to the theatre on the first day of its showing. The plot is about Eddie Morra, a lazy writer, played by the fabulous Bradley Cooper, who takes a clear see-through looking drug called NZT. Well, under the influence of this new drug, he writes a masterpiece in four days, becomes a pianist in one, and picks up languages as easily as people do colds. “I wasn’t high, wasn’t wired, just clear,” Eddie explains after his first dose. His explanation is exactly how I felt after the first few times trying smart drugs out. Just like any drug, though, after time, the effects aren’t as powerful. Unlike the fictional version of NZT, no intelligent enhancer will astronomically raise anyone’s IQ(Intelligence Quotient) by that amount. Although the movie is pretty far-fetched, it remains one of my favourites ever.
I first gave Alpha BRAIN a try just over a year ago. Put a couple of these bright green and yellow capsules in my mouth splashed it down with a couple of gulps of was and went about my day. A half-hour later, I was on the computer researching all sorts of things, anywhere from ideas on what to write about to hilarious cat pictures. My focus was strong, mind clear, and I just felt like I knew exactly what needed to get done and did it. Within two days, I had close to a 1500 word rough draft ready to edit and share with the rest of the world. To me, that was a great success, seeing I had never completed writing since high school. There were a few previous attempts, but that writer’s block instantly took over, and I just gave up. I went close to a week straight, taking two capsules and eventually finishing the first 30 day supply in about six weeks.
That first bottle of Alpha BRAIN had profound effects on me. Right away, I noticed I could string more intelligent sentences together. Even my visualization of colours enhanced; Primary colours had become brighter. I started having very vivid dreams again, even when not taking the pills. My short and long-term memory elevated. From a very young age, I could remember certain things from my past that had been forgotten. Short-term memory increased by approximately 15 percent. My day-to-day anxiety levels dropped. I found myself becoming more organized, even a little more than usual. I soon started to cycle it in and out for no more than two weeks. Sometimes I’ll take it a day where I feel I might need an extra boost to keep proper focus. As far as I know, I have absolutely no negative side effects, nor have I found any negative feedback anywhere about the product.
Just recently, they published their double-blind placebo testings, which had very positive results. They’re very open and honest about everything they find and do with these studies. It’s rare to find with any supplement and prescription drug companies. It’s 100 percent all-natural ingredients. Highly recommend it pretty well, everyone.
Here are the ingredients for Alpha BRAIN per two capsules, along with a brief description:
- Alpha GPC: Raw source of acetylcholine, associated with sharpness, mental speed. 100 milligrams (mg)
- Huperzine A: Acetylcholinesterase inhibitor, extracted from club moss. 40 (mg)
- Vinpocetine: Helps bring oxygen and nutrients to the brain via vasodilation. 5(mg)
- AC-11®: Powerful DNA repair antioxidant. 350 (mg)
- Phosphatidylserine: Essential lipid compound highly abundant within brain cell membranes. 50 (mg)
- Bacopa: Traditional Ayurvedic brain-enhancing nutrient. 100 (mg)
- Pterostilbene: Powerful micronutrient / antioxidant. 750 micrograms (mcg)
- L-Tyrosine: Amino acid important to the production of Dopamine. 300 (mg)
- L-Theanine: Amino acid with chemical similarities to GABA. 200 (mg)
- Oat Straw (20:1): Natural anti-stress nutrient, helps balance the formula and create calm focus. 100 (mg)
- Vitamin B-6: Catalyst in effective utilization of many nutrients. 10 (mg)
I’ve also tried another cognitive enhancer called Neuro-Boost Piracetam. I tried this one and on the last six months. Took two twice a day for the first two days, after that just two a day. Over time, I gradually limited the amount I consumed to take it just when I need a little neuro boost. This one works great for retaining knowledge and greatly improves memory. It’s used in many countries to help aid people with disorders such as; learning capabilities, senile dementia, memory processes, dyslexia, alcoholism and withdrawal syndrome, acute ischemic stroke, heart disease, Raynaud’s, Alzheimer’s, obsessive-compulsive disorders and brain injury. Its also recommended to healthy individuals as well. Like Alpha BRAIN, I notice an increase in lucid dreaming.
Neuro-Boost Piracetam allows both the left and right hemispheres to interact and transmit with one another more adequately. The left brain function is associated with academic or analytical intelligence that consists of ability speaking, process grammar, reading and writing, memory (name, time and events), logic, numbers, analysis, and others. Simultaneously, the right brain is the place for developing artistic things, creativity, feelings, emotions, style, music, imagination, fantasy, colour, recognition of self and others, socialization and personality development. Experts say the left brain is a controller of IQ (Intelligence Quotient), while the right brain plays an important role in developing EQ (Emotional Quotient) within people.
This brain food’s chemical composition is 2-oxo-1-pyrrolidine acetamide; it shares the same 2-oxo-pyrrolidone base structure with 2-oxo-pyrrolidine carboxylic acid (pyroglutamate). Basically, it’s a group of amino acids that regulates Gaba; Gaba is the chief inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system. It plays a role in regulating nerve cell excitability throughout the nervous system. In humans, GABA is also directly responsible for the regulation of muscle tone.
This beautiful white pill, for me, hasn’t shown any negative side effects. In rare cases, some have had symptoms such as headaches and insomnia have been discussed due to a lack of natural choline levels. Choline supplements can be found at any health store or pharmacy. Choline is found in eggs, beef liver and cauliflower.
Within both supplements, I have found great benefits. I highly recommend it to any adult. If I had to choose one, I would go with the Alpha BRAIN. For me, it worked best. Not everybody is the same, and effects may vary from person to person. Recommended consulting your local Naturopathic Doctor (ND) and or Medical Doctor (MD) first before consumption or with any questions. Don’t expect to turn into Eddie Morra and go from a writer to running for Senator, with plans to become President within a few short months.
